Terms and Conditions

The short version: be kind, give credit, and use your own judgement.

Hectane is the personal blog of Velu S Gautam. By reading or commenting here, you agree to these terms. They're meant to be short and plain.

The Content

Everything here is my own writing and reflects my personal views. It doesn't speak for any employer, client, or company I've worked with, past or present. Interview write-ups describe my own experience and aren't meant to reveal confidential questions or processes.

Code and Debug Notes

The code snippets, fixes, and how-tos are shared as they are, with no warranty. They worked for me in my setup, but yours may be different. Read before you run, test before you ship, and take care with anything that touches production or your data.

You're welcome to use the code snippets in your own projects. If a note helped you, a link back is always appreciated.

Reusing Posts

The writing and original images belong to me. Feel free to quote short excerpts with a link back to the original post. Please don't republish whole posts without asking first.

Images and Credits

I try to use only images I've made or have the right to use, and I credit sources where credit is due. If you think something here is yours and isn't credited properly, let me know and I'll fix it or take it down.

Comments

Comments are welcome and are reviewed before they appear. I may edit or remove any comment, or not publish it at all. That includes spam, self-promotion, abuse, personal attacks, adult content, and anything that infringes someone else's rights. You're responsible for what you post, so please don't share private information about yourself or anyone else.

No Advertising

Hectane doesn't run ads or sponsored posts. If that ever changes, it will be clearly labelled.

Posts often link to other sites and tools. I don't control them and I'm not responsible for their content or practices.

Reporting a Problem

If you find content that is copyrighted, inaccurate, or shouldn't be here, email [email protected] and I'll review it and act on it.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version on this page is the current one.

Before you publish, please check these points:

  • [email protected]: I kept this from the old text. Make sure the inbox still works, or change it to an address you check.
  • Code reuse: The terms let readers use the code snippets freely, while the writing stays yours. If you'd rather use a formal license (for example MIT for code and CC BY-NC for text), I can put that in instead.
  • Ads: The "No Advertising" section commits you to no ads. Remove it if you might add sponsorships later.
  • Legal review: This is plain-language wording, not legal advice. Have someone qualified look at it if you want something stronger.
